How Pro access affects themes
See what active, canceled, expired, and refunded Pro access means for downloads, updates, switching, reapplying, and offline Restore.
Pro access controls new Pro operations. It does not remotely remove an appearance that is already visible on the computer. Offline Restore is available in every access state.
The regular Codex Skin Pro price is US$19.90 per year. During the Launch Sale, the pre-tax base price is US$9 per year on an annual recurring subscription. Applicable tax is calculated and added at checkout. While that Launch Sale subscription remains active, the pre-tax base price renews at US$9 each year until canceled. Current price, tax, renewal, cancellation, and refund instructions are maintained on Pricing.
Free themes and Pro themes use the same safety path
The current catalog contains 6 Free and 17 Pro themes. The Plugin itself is free. A Free theme does not require a Pro subscription, although its package still requires an authorized Plugin device for delivery.
Pro access decides whether the service permits a new Pro package download, update, switch, or reapply. It does not give a package extra local privileges. Free and Pro themes both use signed, data-only packages, pass the same content and hash checks, and must finish the same visible verification before an apply is reported as successful.
Access states at a glance
| Access state | New Pro downloads and updates | Switch or reapply Pro | Appearance already visible | Offline Restore |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Active paid period | Allowed | Allowed | Remains | Available |
| Canceled, paid period still active | Allowed until the paid period ends | Allowed until the paid period ends | Remains | Available |
| Expired | Stopped | Stopped | Not remotely removed | Available |
| Provider-confirmed refund, with no other active unrefunded period | Stopped | Stopped | Not remotely removed | Available |
A refund affects only the access period created by the refunded payment. If another unrefunded payment still provides an active period, that period remains. A package left in a local cache does not create access to switch or reapply it. If you use Restore and later want to apply a Pro theme again, you need active Pro access at that time.
Active access
During an active paid period, the account can:
- download the Pro themes published at that time;
- download new Pro themes and compatible theme updates released during that period; and
- switch between or reapply Pro themes.
Device authorization, official Codex identity, package verification, compatibility probes, and visible verification still apply. Pro access never bypasses those controls.
Canceled but still inside the paid period
Canceling stops a future automatic renewal. It does not revoke the period that has already been paid for. Until that period ends, Pro theme operations work the same way as an active subscription.
The account and checkout records are the source for the current period end date and renewal state. Canceling does not remove the current appearance or force an immediate Restore.
After access expires
When the paid period ends without another successful payment, new Pro downloads, updates, switches, and reapplications stop. Codex Skin does not run expiry DRM and does not remotely remove the appearance already displayed on the computer.
That display has a separate session boundary. Completely quitting Codex, restarting the computer, or a later renderer reload ends the visible guarantee whether the subscription is active or not. After expiry, a new Pro apply requires active access again. Offline Restore remains available.
After a confirmed refund
A customer may request a manual refund within 7 days of the relevant payment. Submitting the request does not by itself change access. Only a refund confirmed by the payment provider revokes the access period created by that payment.
The refund does not revoke a different, unrefunded access period. When no other active unrefunded period remains, new Pro downloads, updates, switches, and reapplications stop. The current visible appearance and local data are not remotely deleted. Restore remains available; applying a Pro theme again after Restore requires a new active paid period.
Refund request instructions and the current terms are on Pricing and the Terms page. Do not share passwords, tokens, or full card details when asking for payment help.
Device authorization and Pro access are different checks
Device authorization links a local Plugin device to the user's account. Pro access comes from a verified paid period and a server-side access grant. A device can be linked while the account is Free, canceled but still active, expired, or in another access state.
For the same reason, deviceLinked: true in local status is not proof of current Pro access. A browser callback, local state file, cached package, or editable client value cannot grant Pro. The server checks access during the protected theme operation.
If a Pro operation stops
If the account has no active paid period, open Pricing or the account page instead of resubmitting the same apply. If checkout has just completed, the original Plugin transaction may continue its bounded wait. A timeout does not cancel an order or erase access; follow the purchase-wait step in Troubleshooting.
If the account should still be active, keep the stable error code and a non-sensitive local status summary. Do not send tokens, cookies, payment credentials, or private workspace data. If the goal is simply to leave the theme, use offline Restore; it does not require a purchase.
Questions
Does canceling Pro remove my current theme immediately?
No. Cancellation stops the next renewal. The already-paid period remains active until its end, and the current appearance is not remotely removed.
Can I switch or reapply a Pro theme after access expires?
No. Expiry stops new Pro downloads, updates, switches, and reapplications. A theme already visible is not remotely removed, but applying it to a new renderer requires active Pro access.
Does a refund delete the theme from my computer?
No. A provider-confirmed refund revokes the access period created by that payment. It stops new Pro operations when no other active period remains, but it does not remotely delete the current appearance or local data.
Can I use Restore without Pro access?
Yes. Restore remains available offline without login, active access, network, Node, or the Plugin cache.
